Why every beginner should practise on a demo account first
A demo account is a practice account with virtual money. Prices are real, but profits and losses are not. It lets you learn the platform without risking your savings.
How to open one: through your broker's website, or inside MetaTrader (File → Open an Account). Choose a demo, not a live account.
Practise properly:
- choose a realistic balance — the amount you might really use one day, not a huge number;
- use a stop loss on every practice trade, so the habit is built before real money is involved;
- write one line in a journal for each trade: why you took it, and what happened.
A demo profit is not real money, and demo results don't promise real results: real trading adds emotions, costs and sometimes slower fills. Treat the demo as a place to learn the tools and to build discipline.
